The Philadelphia Flyers have finally found their goalie of the future in Carter Hart. Hart has without a doubt proved that he can lead the team between the pipes for many years to come. To keep Hart fresh and ready to go, the Flyers will need a solid backup goalie as it can make the difference between making the playoffs or not in the years to come. We've seen the more successful teams usually have a #2 goalie that can eat up a lot of games to help keep their starter fresh through the season and ready to play as much as possible down the stretch and into the playoffs. Brian Elliott has done the job, but he's seen his numbers decline and of course deals with injury issues which will likely only pile up as he gets older. That's why Johnny Berman of The Hockey Writers believes they should chase one specific free agent goalie during the offseason. Berman points to soon to be UFA Thomas Greiss of the New York Islanders. With Semyon Varlamov signed for a couple of years and the team reportedly getting ready to sign KHL star goalie Ilya Sorokin, Greiss will be the odd man out and hit the open market. Greiss has been quietly consistent throughout his career and with some big names like Braden Holtby and Robin Lehner set to hit the open market, he could come at a discount to the Flyers. The 34 year old has registered a 2.63 goals against average and .915 save percentage of 11 years of NHL experience. Would you like to see Greiss with the Flyers?
