Leafs coach with hit comment after game 7 loss
The chatter about Sheldon Keefe's future with the Toronto Maple Leafs is buzzing after his team bowed out of the playoffs against the Boston Bruins.
Keefe's comments after their 2-1 overtime loss at TD Garden hinted at the frustrations his team faced, especially with scoring. Despite having star-studded offensive players, the Maple Leafs have stumbled to find goals in the playoffs, a topic Keefe tried to address during his post-game talk.
"It's very evident when teams play the Leafs, they set up the game for the Leafs to beat themselves," Keefe said. "And I thought we did that in Games 3 and 4. We beat ourselves with how we played at home."

Keefe delved deeper into his team's showing, expressing a mix of pride and frustration. While acknowledging their disciplined defensive play, which kept them competitive, he couldn't overlook the glaring issue: a stagnant offense. The power play, once a potent weapon, faltered when it mattered most, converting only once in a whopping 21 chances across the series.
"You got to be really patient and earn the offense," he said "Now obviously you need your special teams to be the difference, and they weren't able to be that."
Keefe's uncertainty about his future with the Maple Leafs lingered through last summer, particularly after the team chose not to extend the contract of general manager Kyle Dubas following their second-round playoff exit against the Florida Panthers.
After the Maple Leafs' disappointing exit from the playoffs, the future of coach Sheldon Keefe hangs in the balance. Despite signing a two-year extension just last summer, his job security remains uncertain. The team's offensive struggles, especially a dismal power play, have cast doubt on Keefe's ability to lead the team to postseason success. As the organization evaluates its options, fans are left wondering if Keefe will still be behind the bench next season.
