Monday was an eventful day for the entire hockey community as more news was released regarding the 2018 WJC Team Canada investigation as the players appeared in court and the London Police Department made its first media appearance since the investigation. Following the press conference, the NHL made another major announcement regarding the investigation.
As it appears that Carter Hart has played his last game in the NHL with the Philadelphia Flyers, the NHL announced that all teams with players involved in the case, including the Philadelphia Flyers, will receive salary cap relief for the players leave of absence.
This comes as a huge relief for the Flyers as they move into the next phase of their rebuilding process as Hart's current contract is worth $11,937,000 over a three year span worth $3,979,000 per year.
It hasn't been revealed exactly how much cap relief the Flyers will be rewarded from the NHL, but it could potentially take the weight of Hart's contract off of the Flyers and Danny Briere's shoulders.
