During the summer when the public was not yet notified of the ongoing investigation of the WJC 2018 Team Canada situation, the Flyers were actively shopping star goalie Carter Hart. At the time, fans were shocked, confused, and even didn't believe that the Flyers were shopping one of their best players, but now it is evident what Danny Briere and the Flyers were doing.
A week ago it was reported that Briere and the Flyers were close to having a deal complete with Kent Hughes and the Montreal Canadiens, but it is now being reported that the Canadiens weren't the only team that was in on the Hart summer sweepstakes.
Two Canadien teams including the Edmonton Oilers and the Toronto Maple Leafs reportedly had active conversations with the Flyers regarding Hart, but also the Buffalo Sabres and New Jersey Devils were involved in talks as well.
Despite talks being active, teams were skeptical of the 2018 Team Canada situation and a deal was never completed. Hart and the other four members of 2018 WJC Team Canada are set to appear before a London, Ontario court on Monday, Feb. 5 as well as the London Police Department is set to host a press conference at 2:00p.m. EST on Monday.
