BREAKING: Flyers announce 20th Team Captain in franchise history

After the departure of long-time team captain Claude Giroux in 2022, the Philadelphia Flyers and their fans have been desperately awaiting their next team captain. With the Flyers seeing a resurgance and exceeding expectations in 2023-24, the Flyers found their 20th Team Captain in franchise history. Talk has ramped up this season of the next person to wear the "c", and the Flyers have finally found their guy.
12-year Flyers veteran center Sean Couturier has been named as the 20th Team Captain in franchise history. The team announced on Wednesday night with a video on Twitter, revealing the new look Flyers jersey with the 'C' above the left chest.

Couturier is one of the most deserving Flyers to represent the captains patch, as he has spent his entire 12-year career with the Flyers, sticking with them through the ups and the current rebuild.
Couturier spent years learning from some past Flyers legends such as Claude Giroux, Jakob Voracek, and Wayne Simmonds, and now Coots finally has the opportunity to lead his team.
After an injury that many expected to end his career last season, Konecny has bounced back at the age of 31, recording 33 points in 50 games, with 22 assists and 11 goals. Coots' leadership in the locker room has been a massive piece to the Flyers success this season.
Along with Coots, 2024 NHL All-Star Travis Konecny was also named Alternate Captain, alongside Scott Laughton.
Many thought Konecny was going to be named Captain this upcoming July when he becomes eligible for a contract extension, but the Alternate Captain's patch was still much deserving for TK.
Not only have the Flyers exceeded all expectations this season, but the leadership and culture in the locker room has been restored in large part to Couturier, Konecny, and Laughton.
