Philadelphia Flyers goaltender has been on indefinite leave since January, which turned out to be due to a case from 2018. On February 5, 2024, police charged Carter Hart along with Michael McLeod, Cal Foote, Dillon Dube and Alex Formenton. These five men who were part of Canada's 2018 World Juniors hockey, will not go to trial before the start of next season confirmed by ESPN.

In London, Ontario on Tuesday, the attorney for these players, were ordered to file pretrial motions prior to Oct. 23 and the court set hearings pertaining to the motions on the calendar for Nov. 25. There is still no date for the trial for this case.
Carter Hart along with the other players have continued to claim their innocence and no wrongdoing took place. An unnamed woman stated that the actions took place in June of 2018 after a Hockey Canada Foundation fundraiser inside a London hotel room. Nearly six years later, charges were filed and now we await trial.
