When the Flyers drafted Matvei Michkov, it was known that they had to most likely wait three years before he could play for the team. Now, it is not impossible for Matvei Michkov to play for the Flyers sooner but like Brière stated, the Flyers do not control that. Now, as disappointing that it is, that he may have to play in Russia for the next two years, there is a good chance, he would have been drafted prior to the Flyers pick, if he was able to play immediately. Matvei Michkov has two years left on his contract with SKA Saint Petersburg of the KHL so we may not see Matvei Michkov in a Flyers uniform until the 2026-2027 season, however, Matvei Michkov, will still only be 21 years old when that season begins. By then, hopefully, the Philadelphia Flyers will be Stanley Cup contenders.
