The Philadelphia Flyers drafted Matvei Michkov last year 7th overall, with the understanding that he will most likely not play for the Flyers for at least a few years. However, with the reports that Matvei Michkov may come to the Flyers this summer, everything has now change, including the timeline of their rebuild, if this truly happens.

The addition of Matvei Michkov to the Flyers lineup would speed up the rebuild by one to two years

Many experts were saying that Matvei Michkov was the 2nd best talent in the draft last year behind Connor Bedard, as they are both generational talents, however with him being under contract in Russia, he fell to the Flyers at number 7. Now, if he does play for the Flyers this upcoming season, he will help them tremendously offensively, as the Flyers desperately need offensive help. He would without a doubt improve their league worst powerplay. Not only this, but the Flyers could look for more defensive help this offseason as they would have their upgrade on offense. The Flyers also have 2 1st round draft picks in this year draft and they could instead use those picks on defense. No matter what, if Matvei Michkov can come over to North America this summer, it's only a positive.
