The Philadelphia Flyers goaltender Samuel Ersson has made the Men's World Championship for Team Sweden. Sam Ersson has represented team Sweden in the past, but this is the first time he will play in this particular tournament.

Sam Ersson did just play in the European Hockey Tour this year which was a warmup tournament for the Men's World Championship. For his national team career, he has participated in the Euro Hockey Tour in 2020-21 and the World Juniors in 2018-19. Ersson is one of three goaltenders to make the roster, as both Jesper Wallstedt and Filip Gustavsson also made the team. Sweden has won the gold 11 times in this tournament, however, has not medaled at all since 2018 when they won gold.
Preliminary round games for Sweden will begin on May 10 and their opponents will be the United States, Poland, Germany, Kazakhstan, Latvia, France, and Slovakia. The playoffs for this tournament will begin on May 23. Ersson is the 2nd Flyer to play in this tournament as Joel Farabee made the United States team.
