The Philadelphia Flyers general manager Danny Briere has stated that the Flyers are going through a rebuild. One of the decisions that Danny Briere must make is if Travis Konecny will be part of the rebuild as Konecny will enter the final year of his contract this year.

When asked about being part of the rebuild, Konecny said :
"Been through a lot of good times and also down times," Konecny said then. "So, when you go through that stuff as a team and some of the guys that have been here, it would mean that much more when you can get to the end goal and winning. It means a lot to be a part of a process like that."

It seems that Konecny will be ok with a rebuild if they can compete when it's all said and done.
Come this July 1st, Konecny will enter the final year of his 6 years, 33-million-dollar contract that he previously signed. At the end of season, press conference, Konecny said :
"I love Philly. I'm sure down the road here, I'll deal with that. I've been focusing so much on trying to get [into the playoffs], but we'll see moving forward."

Konecny is at least saying that he wants to remain in Philadelphia, and it would be in the Flyers best interest to get the contract extension completed as soon as possible, as the value of the contract will just go up, the longer they wait. The Flyers could trade him at next year's deadline, if they cannot reach a deal, however, the Flyers target to compete for a Stanley Cup is about 3 years away and Travis Konecny, will most likely still be in his prime. The Best option for the Flyers is to have Travis Konecny on the team.
