The NHL and their fanbase have discussed many scenarios on where Calgary Flames defenceman will land. After a long wait it was revealed tonight that the Flames have moved Chris Tanev in a major trade to the Dallas Stars.
According to Elliotte Friedman of the 32 Thoughts podcast, GM Craig Conroy moved Tanev for a 2nd round pick, a prospect and a conditional pick.
This deal is another step in the remake of the Flames as Conroy is moving out key players in an effort to change his fortunes. Earlier this season he had moved other pieces including Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov to the Canucks. Other players on the move are Noah Hanifan and potentially Jacob Markstrom.
Dallas will have a huge addition to their blueline and will see if they can add more as they continue to push for a Cup in this win now mode.
