For the first time since the news of the 2018 WJC Team Canada investigation rocked the hockey community, the London Ontario Police Department addressed the media in a press conference, providing the media and public with further details on the case.

To open the press conference, London Chief of Police Thai Truong confirmed that all five players, including Carter Hart have been charged and officially surrendered to police on January 26. Truong also confirmed that Michael McLeod has been charged with two counts in the investigation.
Truong stated that the five members charged met the victim at a local bar on June 18, 2018 but the case was closed in 2019 due to insufficient evidence. After a thorough review in 2022, the case was reopened and sufficient evidence was found to bring charges upon the players.

Truong and the police department also thanked the victim for their patience, cooperation, and openness in the case while also advocating to get the case right.
"My sincerest apology to the victim and her family for the amount of time to reach this point. We have found sufficient evidence to charge Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Michael Mcleod, Cal Foote, and Dillon Dube."
The London Police were also able to confirm that Michael McLeod has received two charges in the case which is in relation to «aiding someone else in committing the offense».
The five players appeared before a court for approximately 15 minutes this morning as the next steps in the investigation begin. The players are set to make another appearance in court on April 30.
