When the Philadelphia Flyers selected Russian phenom Matvei Michkov with the seventh overall pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, many Flyers fans have heard about his talent, but still were either unsure or unaware of just how good the 19-year-old winger truly is. During his second season in the KHL with Sochi, Flyers fans have seen how great Michkov can be as he is on the verge of breaking an impressive scoring record.

Today is the last game of the season for Michkov and Sochi as Michkov sits just two points away from breaking Minnesota Wild's star Kirill Kaprizov's U20 scoring record.
Before today's game, Michkov sits with 41 points in 46 games, with 19 goals and 22 assists. Kaprisov's record is 42 points in 49 games played with 20 goals and 22 assists. Something also to note is the Michkov missed a bulk of December and the beginning of January as he was recovering from pneumonia.
Even if Michkov doesn't break Kaprisov's scoring record for players under the age of 20, what Michkov has done has been nothing short of extraordinary. Michkov has proved that he is everything he has been hyped up to be. From passing, to scoring abilities, to stick handling, and skating, Michkov could be a once-in-a generation type of player, something that the Flyers have never had.
Will Michkov break Kaprisov's scoring record today?
