With the NHL Entry Draft just days away - July 7th in Montreal - "BroadStreet Hockey" decided to do a mock draft.
With the projected stats, it's believed the Philadelphia Flyers could possibly draft right handed defenceman David Jiricek. The young defenceman is from HC Plzeň (Czechia). Jiricek is a big boy at 6'3 and 190 pounds.
Last season Jiricek would score 5 goals and 6 assists in 29 games.
David Jiricek Pre-draft rankings per Elite Prospects are listed as such:
Must read on FlyersInsider
FCHockey: #11 McKeen's: #5 Bob McKenzie (TSN): #7 Craig Button (TSN): #6 NHL Central Scouting: #4 (EU Skaters) Corey Pronman (The Athletic): #4 Scott Wheeler (The Athletic): #6
This pick would be interesting, but the Flyers would, in my opinion, take Matthew Savoie. With that being said, Jiricek could fit nicely in the Flyers rebuild on the backend.
Jiricek had his season shortened by a knee injury he sustained at the World Juniors. He still put up decent numbers playing in the top Czech league against grown men, which also helps with his development, meaning he could most likely be in the NHL very soon.
