A surprise candidate might invite himself into the Flyers' head coaching race

It has become pretty clear as the season went on that Mike Yeo will not be confirmed as the Flyers head coach next season. If Chuck Fletcher does what he said earlier this year, his team will need a new head coach that will bring a new culture.

Some people talked about Rick Tocchet. Other mentioned John Tortorella. But another surprise candidate might also be in the race : Paul Maurice.

He has done a great job in Winnipeg, and even if it hasn't end well - he resigned - Maurice is a great head coach and could bring that winning culture that the club desperately needs.

Maurice has a strong personality and you need to have a thick skin when you are the head coach. Maurice has all the characteristics to succeed in Philadelphia.


With that being said, the most popular choice would certainly be Tocchet. He's a former Flyer' and knows pretty much everything about the organization.
