Kevin Hayes' name has recently been trending for being elected to the NHL's All-Star team which will take place in Florida this season, but many have criticized the NHL's decision to send Hayes to the All-Star game and not the Flyers leading point scorer, Travis Konecny.
Although the stats may not add up to why Hayes was elected, the feeling of the room adds up. Kevin Hayes lost his brother, and former NHL player Jimmy Hayes in 2021. Jimmy was just 31 years of age and sadly passed due to an overdose, leaving behind his family including his son Beau, Kevin Hayes' nephew.
Hayes recently stated in an interview how special the nomination means to him, and how he'll be bringing Beau along with him!
Kevin Hayes on the All-Star nod: "It's a cool situation for me, because not to get emotional, but it's probably the only thing my brother since he stopped playing hockey that he wanted me to accomplish. And I never honestly thought it would happen, but it did."
