An enormous trade could happen soon
On the most recent edition of the 32 thoughts podcast with Elliotte Friedman and Jeff Marek, the crew looked at the Winnipeg Jets situation and wondered if it was the end of the road for their core players.
Mark Scheifele, Kyle Connor, Nikolaj Ehlers, Blake Wheeler and more importantly, center Pierre-Luc Dubois."I think one scenario that a lot of people will be watching is Pierre-Luc Dubois. He's up for a new contract, he's got 2 years towards unrestricted free agency so he's in a situation where he's got some real power over his future."
The former third overall pick has a 5 million dollar contract which expires at the end of this season. He is still not a UFA so the Jets still maintain his signing rights.
"And if the Jets can't sign him long term or don't feel they can sign him long term, I think this is gonna be a situation to watch... If he's not willing to sign long term, I think you're gonna hear some conversations about his name being out there."
Still only 23, Dubois has 27 goals and 31 assists through 77 games goof for 58 this year in Winnipeg.
