Are the Oilers looking to land Travis Konency?
With the off-season in full swing and NHL trade rumours flying around faster than mosquitoes, it seems the Edmonton Oilers are kicking over every tire they can to help bolster their team for the upcoming NHL season.
With their limited cap space, they will need to do something large to acquire what they're looking for, as they only have $5.9 million of cap space and have seven free agents to keep or cut loose.
One player that seems to be catching a lot of attention these days is Flyers star Travis Konency. TK is an interesting trade piece as he would help bolster the Flyers' lineup as one of the best wingers. On the flip side could give the Flyers a bevy of draft picks and players in a package to help augment the rebuilding phase.

If the Oilers are looking to trade for this forward, they will need to package from one of their core people who I feel would be Ryan Nugent Hopkins. RNH is a dynamic offensive threat that has blossomed recently in the last two years and almost eclipsed 100 points this year. To give up a player of TK'S calibre, Nuge would need to come back along with a high draft pick and a prospect.
The Flyers require centremen as they are weak up the middle and a player like RNH would jump-start this rebuilding phase.
The Flyers have prospects in
Cutter Gauthier and
Tyson Foerster who could form a strong scoring line with Nuge and give the Flyers a completely new look.
It remains if the Flyers are willing to part with TK and make the changes necessary to bring the Flyers back into contention again.
