At last, the rebuild is on with the Flyers.
Yesterday was a very satisfying day for many Flyers fans. They watched one of their beloved defensemen, who has been with the team for many years move to the Columbus Blue Jackets while recouping six assets in return.
This move is the move the Flyers need to begin their rebuilding phase properly. General manager Danny Briere wanted to make a splash and boy did he ever do so. The Flyers recovered one goaltender in Cal Peterson, two defensemen and three draft picks.
They also shed some salary. It's necessary during a rebuilding phase as the Flyers want to have as much cap space as possible to use in many ways.
Rumours were flying after the trade was completed. The Flyers were about to move Carter Hart, according to The Athletic and Pierre LeBrun, it appears the team is willing to listen for offers on Hart as the teardown phase continues to accelerate.

It's refreshing to see that Briere has an open mind and is willing to make the deals needed to improve this team while moving away from its previous model.
But only one untouchable remains, and that's former 5th overall pick
Cutter Gauthier.
Listening to offers for Carter Hart and
Travis Konecny are hard moves to sell to fans as both players are vital for scoring and excellent goaltending. These players would need offers, that would blow the doors off Wells Fargo Centre to move them.
I expect many more trades to come, especially as the draft approaches. I could also see the Flyers acquiring more draft picks and talent as they continued to purge their lineup.
