The finest defenseman for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Morgan Rielly, has been placed on injured reserve and will be out for four to six weeks after seeming to injure his knee in yesterday night's game following a nasty collision.

Due to Morgan Rielly NOT being placed on long-term injury reserve but on IR, that left the Toronto Maple Leafs in a difficult situation as they are now in need of a defenseman. 50/50 contracts were filled around the Maple Leafs organization as a result.
The Toronto Maple Leafs were once again compelled to waive forward Wayne Simmonds as a result of this information. Simmonds is a tough forward with 1,023 NHL games under his belt who always puts the opposition on the back foot.

Teams, especially those who have goaltender problems, may take note of the second player to be placed on waivers today. Magnus Hellberg, a 6'6" and 230-pound goalie who has been moved about this season, is looking for a permanent NHL team.
Zach Sanford, a tough, big-bodied forward seeking for a new home, was placed on waivers by the Nashville Predators. Sanford was acquired from the Winnipeg Jets in a deal for a fifth round selection back in March.
Due to the Philadelphia Flyers injuries, Kevin Weekes, a NHL insider, stated that the Flyers are likely to make a splash tomorrow, as there injuries continue to pile up.
