BREAKING: Former First Round Pick Demands to be Traded
Ryan Merkley, a defender with the San Jose Sharks and a former first-round pick, has reportedly demanded�to be traded. Merkley has 39 NHL games under his belt and is still eligible for waivers.
Since Merkley has had difficulty establishing himself in the NHL, according to his agent, a change of scenery will be beneficial to both sides. He scored 5 points in 39 games he played for the Sharks last season.
Merkley has played all of this season's games with the Barracudas in the AHL, scoring 14 points in 30 games. Even though Merkley has had difficulty, he is still only 22 years old and may appeal to many clubs in the league to take a risk on him.
