BREAKING NEWS: Rasmus Ristolainen is staying in Philadelphia

It's the end of a very long story.

After multiple rumours of trades, Rasmus Ristolainen and the Philadelphia Flyers finally came to an agreement on a contract extension. According to insider Darren Dreger, it's believed that the Finnish defensman signed a 5-year contract extension that will average 5.1M$ per season.
He was set to become an UFA this summer. In his last contract, Ristolainen was making on average 5.4M$, so you could say that Fletcher made a pretty good job to not overpay him. And it also shows that Ristolainen really wanted to stay in Philly.

Ristolainen was previously acquired from the Buffalo Sabres during the last NHL Draft for Robert Hagg, a 1st round pick and a 2nd round pick. This season, the 27 years old defenseman registered 13 points in 49 games.
