The Calgary Flames and mayor, Jyoti Gondek, have agreed to begin discussing plans to develop a new stadium.
The Flames have been playing in the Scotiabank Saddledome since 1983, and it is starting to fall apart.
Fans have been reporting roof damages since the end of 2021. There was a plan in place to begin discussions back in 2019, but those plans didn't pan out.

Now that there is an agreement to officially begin talks, the city of Calgary is preparing to quickly start discussions now that the Saddledome is struggling to stay in tact.
