The Philadelphia Flyers 2023 third round pick has been a scoring machine in the OHL. The 95th overall pick has been a sensation in the Ontario Hockey League with the London Knights, leading his team in scoring and assists. However, the latest announcement from the OHL brought bad news and disciplanry actions upon the Flyers prospect.
Denver Barkey of the London Knights was suspended for two games on January 19 because of an altercation with officials during their game at Kitchener. According to sources, at the conclusion of the Knights game Barkey got into a heated altercation with the officials and had to be separated from the officials by his teammates.
The 18-year-old was suspended for two games for what the OHL defined as "abuse of an official." Obviously, Barkey has to be better at controlling himself around officials however it has not been reported on what brought Barkey to his breaking point.
Barkey has been a star for the Knights, leading his team in scoring with 64 total points in just 40 games, pouring in 24 goals and 40 assists along the way. Along with fellow teammate and Flyers first round pick Oliver Bonk, the Flyers have two exciting stars in the making.
