J.R. Avon was a key part of Peterborough Pete's run to the OHL title and went undrafted in the 2021 draft. He was then signed by the Flyers in 2021 to a three-year entry-level contract with the team.

As a player who had recently taken a step forward and shown a marked improvement in his ability, he was able to record 10 goals and 18 points with the Peterborough Petes in November of 2022.
Bad news on Phantoms rookie forward J.R. Avon via Danny Briere and the Flyers: "Forward J.R. Avon will miss the remainder of Rookie and Training Camp with a PCL sprain in his left knee. He has been cleared for rehab and is expected to be out approximately 4-6 weeks."

Eventually, he ended up being the team's third-leading scorer and helped lead the team to victory in the Memorial Cup in the years 2022-2023.
In the middle of rookie camp, there's not much good news for J.R Avon's future as the rumor mill was speculating that he was out because of a lower-body back injury in the past few days.
As of now, it appears that the story has been updated, and Avon will miss 4-6 weeks, and the rest of camp as he is in rehabilitation for a PCL sprain in his knee, which will keep him out of action.
