This Johnny Gaudreau saga is going to heat up in the upcoming weeks.
We know that the Flames will do everything in their power to re-sign their star forward, but for the moment, there hasn't been any concrete talks between both parties during the season. The Flames campaign came to an end last night, so they are going to see what they can do to find an agreement.
With that being said, there's also a real possibility that Gaudreau doesn't re-sign with the team. And here's where it is becoming interesting. If Calgary feels that they can't agree with Gaudreau, they could very well trade his rights to another team.
Let's remember that Fletcher acquired Kevin Hayes' rights before signing him to a long term deal in 2019. So he's not afraid to make these type of moves...

"I have no doubt teams, maybe not right away but over the next little while, will reach out and see if the Flames are interested in trading his rights if they don't think they can make a deal, but I still think that is a bit of time away," said Elliotte Friedman.
This season, Gaudreau registered 115 points in 82 games. He added 14 points in 11 playoff games.
