As all NHL fans know, when an NHL franchise is preparing to rebuild its organizational depth and current roster, crafting trades becomes a major component in moving the team forward. The team may have assets that can be sold to other teams looking for help as they move closer to the playoffs.

The Flyers have several players in their lineup that could be used to sell to other teams. It is widely expected that the Flyers will remain near the bottom of the standings, even though they have recently had some success.
According to Darren Dreger of TSN, general manager Danny Briere wants to make a deal or several deals to help rebuild the foundation of the team, not just for the sake of selling off players.

With that in mind, the Flyers have two players in their defensive core who could be used in a trade to help teams bolster their blue line. Several teams in the NHL are currently looking for help on the blue line, including the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Edmonton Oilers. Both teams feel that they should be contending for the Stanley Cup, and their defence has been suspect all season.
Nick Seeler has been providing the Flyers with quality minutes in terms of defensive hockey, boasting a +10 in just nineteen games along with four assists. His average ice time is over 16 minutes a night, and those minutes are vital, especially when the playoffs come around and teams need depth on defence to shut down other players.
The 30-year-old stands at six foot three, 197 lbs, and also has a bit of snarl to his game, where he is not afraid to drop the gloves to defend his teammates. Another attractive point is that he only carries a $775,000 cap hit, which is peanuts for this kind of defenseman.
The other defenseman mentioned is Sean Walker. Walker was traded to the Flyers during the Ivan Provorov deal, where he was formerly with the Los Angeles Kings.
A right-hand shot with a +6 would be another great addition to a team for depth. He averages over 21 minutes a game and has become a fixture in their top four. He also holds a $2.6 million cap hit, and he will be an unrestricted free agent next season.
At 29 years old, the Flyers could sell and potentially re-sign him in the offseason while recuperating assets.
As the season progresses, it's expected that the Flyers will begin to deal with their assets, and a rebuild will emerge.
