On July 1st, during the off-season, former Philadelphia Flyers forward James Van Riemsdyk signed with the Boston Bruins.

In the wake of Chuck Fletcher's firing and Danny Briere leading the way on the rebuild, his contract expired at the end of the 2022-2023 season and the team refused to renew it.
Multiple trades were nixed during the season, only for Van Riemsdyk to sign with Boston as a depth option.

After playing 18 games with the team so far, he arrived in Boston just one season after their Presidents Trophy season, he;s obviously chasing a cup.
He's played 18 games for the team in 2023-2024, he scored 13 points, and he didn't have a good day today.
Morgan Geekie is in today. James van Riemsdyk and Oskar Steen are out up front. Jim Montgomery said that's in part planning for the back-to-back tomorrow.

Ian Mitchell in for Kevin Shattenkirk on D.

Jeremy Swayman in net.
JVR was also out of the lineup today, along with Oskar Steen, as the Boston Bruins lost 5-2 to the Detroit Red Wings. Is JVR not producing up to Jim Montgomery's standards?
His last game against the Florida Panthers, showed him cooking nothing but bagels as the forward would be scratched today.
He's had two unproductive games in a 5 game stint, does this signal a larger move?
