As last season ended, the Flyers management team made the decision and announcement to the world that the team would go into a full rebuild mode and take the team in a different direction that the fan base is not used to.

After unloading a few contracts in the summer and making some room on the roster, it gave some Flyer rookies the opportunity to show if they can make it to the big league.
During training camp, Tyson Foerster and Bobby Brink both made a case for head coach John Tortorella and general manager Danny Briere to keep them with the big club and see how they can handle the NHL.
This leads to the question as the season enters the halfway point of how both players are doing after Game 40?

Foerster, who was drafted in the 2020 Entry Draft in the first round 23rd overall showed excellent promise but failed to start well as the season rolled on. He looked lost at times, had trouble finding his offensive game and looked invisible.
The good news is that it seems he's settling into the NHL now at this point and his beginning to show what was promised. His defensive game has continued to be his strong suit and continues to work hard to find the back of the net as he was mired in a 16-game goal drought.
Through 40 games, he had scored five goals with 11 assists for 16 points and is a + 4.
Brink on the other hand, showed immediate success during the opening games of the season as he settled into his role and was moving his skates rather well. Torts had shown more confidence in Brink as he has awarded him more ice time, he has found himself on the score sheet a little more and seemed to be more comfortable.
However, in his past five games, he has gone through a scoring drought as he has collected no points and has not factored in any offence which has led Torts to make him a healthy scratch tonight against the Wild.
Brink was drafted in 2019, in the second round 34th overall. After 36 games, he has scored seven goals with 11 assists for 18 points and is a + 7.
It's safe to say the Flyers have two excellent prospects that have enormous upside and who can give the team cost certainty for the next couple of years as they decide on what direction they want to go.
With both players with similar numbers and both being wingers, this could give the Flyers options to moving other older players to help recoup assets as the rebuild continues to accelerate.
To be fair, these rookies will continue to have their ups and downs as they try to find consistency. Patience will be the name of the game as they learn their way.
