With Bruce Cassidy now in the coaching free agent pool, Flyers GM Chuck Fletcher may finally have the piece he needs to turn this ship around.
"In 5-years in Boston, BOS had at least 100-points in all three 82-game seasons, 100-points in 70-games in covid season, & were on pace for 100 in 56-game season."
Speculations swirl online but inside Fletcher's office, a master plan to get Cassidy to Philly with the players and support he needs should be in the works. Everybody is speaking of Trotz and DeBoer etc. but Cassidy deserves a look too.
Cassidy for one doesn't get enough credit for how he coaches and how his team plays. Yes there is that first line of Marchand Bergeron and Pastrnak but Cassidy like all good coaches, succeeds because of his middle six.
Cassidy is not a one line coach nor was Boston ever a one line team.
"Bruce Cassidy took over with 27-games left in '16-17 season... Bruins were 245-108-46 under Cassidy. For some to say its all b/c of talent in BOS is not true. Cassidy built a new team every year to complement Bergeron-Marchand-Pastrnak."
The 57-year-old Ottawa native has even gone on to say he was surprised by the Boston firing and would like to coach next year.
