Last season there was arguably no better team then the Colorado Avalanche. They dominated the regular season and continued into the playoffs bringing the first Stanley Cup to Denver since 2001.

The thing is the Avalanche now that they got a taste of success are hungry for more. Just ask Avalanche super star Cale Makar.
According to 2022 Norris Trophy winner Cale Makar during an appearance on talk show Tim & friends Makar would talk about how he feels the Avalanche could repeat as Stanley Cup Champions this season.
When asked about why he believes Colorado has a chance to repeat, the 23 year-old defenceman had this to say regarding the teams competitiveness:
Must read on FlyersInsider
We have so much of that on our team, especially (Nathan MacKinnon). ... Any time you have competitive guys together, it makes you want to play even better, and that's kind of the way our team rolled.

While also giving credit to the Avalanche management made and the moves on trade deadline day last year:
I think for us this year, one of the key things was our trade-deadline acquisitions," he said. "Bringing in (Artturi) Lehkonen, (Andrew) Cogliano, (Josh) Manson, and (Nico) Sturm, just absolutely incredible pieces that, honestly, helped us bring home the championship.

In most analysts and fans minds Cale Makar has to be the best defenceman in the NHL. Look at his numbers last-season Makar had 28 goals and 58 assists for 86 points this past season. He also went on to add 29 points in just 20 playoff games being named the Conn Smythe Trophy winner.

After Makar's bold prediction don't be surprised if we don't see the Colorado Avalanche raising the Stanley Cup at the end of this season again.
