For Multi-Millionaire athletes, their bodies are their money-makers and Cam Atkinson is no different. It is telling that after all the issues that have been reported recently, he sought care elsewhere in Columbus, OH where he spent the majority of his NHL career.
This paints a terrible picture for the Medical Staff in Philadelphia that he couldn't trust them with a diagnosis.
Cam Atkinson: "Yeah, where do I start?" He had a lot of MRIs, some misdiagnoses, before finally being told he had a herniated disc. Didn't want surgery, so he went to Columbus to see people he could trust. Finally decided on surgery.

It's a good sign that Tortorella isn't having any of it either, but it's still recent enough that it may have set the team back for some time, especially if Cam's had some of the same issues as other players have with the team doctors.
