Mike Johnson for NHL Network has recently went on the record and claimed that the Carolina Hurricanes will look incredibly different after this summer.

Key players like Nino Niederreiter and Vincent Trocheck are just two guys they will be likely to move on from in free agency, allowing younger guys like Kotkaniemi and Jarvis more playing time.
Kotkaniemi, since his offersheet from Montreal, has been groomed and touted as Trocheck's replacement since his arrival.
"Wether you win or lose, to return with the exact same team is probably never a good idea"

The Canes were 54-20-8, an amazing regular season before losing to the New York Rangers in 7 games in the second round of the eastern conference playoffs.
"Some of them are going to be difficult and sometimes a difficult decision needs to shake things up a little bit and remind everybody that last year wasn't good enough."

Another huge question is the pending contract negotiations with Tony DeAngelo. The controversial defenceman will be asking for a big raise upwards of 5 million after his 51 points in 64 games this season. Do they Canes view him as a part of the future? And if so, are they willing to give him term?
An even bigger question could be why did Martin Necas and Andrei Svechnikov only combine for 10 points in 28 playoff games?
It will be interesting to see how they manage this summer.
