Chuck Fletcher could have made a big error

It's an extremely chaotic season for the Vegas Golden Knights. Since their elimination from the 3rd round of the playoffs last year against the Montreal Canadiens, GM Kelly McCrimmon made a lot of changes.

And the most important one was bringing star forward Jack Eichel. He hasn't been that bad since his debut with the team, as he registered 21 points in 30 games.
But they gave up a lot in Peyton Krebs and Alex Tuch - and I am not even mentioning the draft picks that they gave to acquire Eichel. Tuch has 37 points in 47 games with the Buffalo Sabres this season. He was an important part of the locker room in Vegas...
Since the debut of Jack Eichel with Vegas, the Golden Knights and the Sabres have near identical records - 14-14-2 for the Golden Knights and 14-14-3 for the Sabres.

When you look at that, it's impossible not to wonder if the Golden Knights made the good move by acquiring Eichel. For the first time in their history, they could miss the playoffs this year and is it an accident that it coincides with the arrival of Eichel?
Before February 16th, the Golden Knights held a 28-18-3 record. They are playing for .500 since Eichel made his return from injury. Of course, there has been a lot of injuries and you can't put away that part.
But by being too greedy, the Vegas Golden Knights may have shot themselves in the foot.
When you look back at it, Chuck Fletcher could have made a big error by trading for Jack Eichel. Obviously, the Flyers need a big star on offense, but Eichel wouldn't have made the difference for the team this season. Considering the situation in which the Orange and Black is, Fletcher took the good decision by not doing everything in his power to acquire the Golden Knights forward.
Sometimes, the best trade you make is the one you don't...
