In recent weeks, the words hockey and pride colours were all over the news. It all began with Flyers defenseman Ivan Provorov not wanting to participate in warmups while wearing pride colours on his jersey.
This ignited a firestorm on Twitter and throughout the NHL bringing up awareness and discussion whether this subject is one to be discussed.
There are other players in the NHL they have shown their support for pride and the LGBTQ+ community including former Flyers forward Claude Giroux.

Giroux was seen during practice before the Ottawa Senators were scheduled to play the Seattle Kraken wearing pride colours as tape for his equipment. Clearly Giroux has a strong view about the community and felt the need to show his support.
Numerous organisations including the Flyers have expressed their support for the community and after the Provorov incident the discussion will continue to intensify.
The Flyers will play their next game on the road against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Saturday March 11th. Game time will be 3:30 PM
