As I explore various subjects to write about, one in particular always catches my eye: the notion that there are some astonishing records held by NHL teams that will likely never be broken, and many of them are not in favour of the teams themselves.

The Flyers boast several such records that will either leave you in disbelief or make you shake your head, knowing that these events transpired in the team's history.
The first record that caught my attention is the shortest tenure in Flyers history. Brian Wesenberg, who was drafted 29th overall in the 1995 NHL draft by the mighty Anaheim Ducks, managed to play just one game for the Philadelphia Flyers when he joined them in the 1998-99 season.
He holds the record for the shortest ice time and tenure with an NHL team, as he played for only one minute and eight seconds against the Washington Capitals. Afterward, he spent the remainder of his hockey career with what is now known as the Phantoms.

The Flyers also held another record: the most goaltenders used in a single season. During the 2018-19 season, the Flyers were hesitant to give Carter Hart a chance to play due to numerous injuries plaguing their goaltenders.
This string of injuries resulted in a dismal start for the Flyers, and the team ended up using a total of eight starting goalies. Fortunately, they eventually gave Hart the opportunity, and he is now the team's starter for this season.
Lastly, a record that is highly likely to remain unbroken is the worst goals-against average in team history. During a game in 2007, Antero Niitymaki surrendered seven goals. He was then replaced by Martin Houle, his backup for that game.
The only caveat here is that Houle had only seven seconds on the clock when he entered the game, facing three shots and allowing one goal. This resulted in a goals-against average of 27.27, which is simply astounding.
Records are meant to be broken; however, I believe that some, if not all, of these records will likely remain untouched.
