Some fans must have been disappointed with the Giroux trade. Mostly because of the departure of the captain, but also because of what they gained in the trade. However, it's been reported that the only offer was the one from the Florida Panthers and that this was the reason behind Giroux's low-price tag.
This is not true. According to Sam Carchidi, the Panthers were not aware that Giroux only wanted to join them, since they were going against another team to get "G".
So, the Flyers received different offers for Giroux but still decided to go with the one from the Panthers. As we know, the Colorado Avalanche was also in the race to sign the number 28 and it's unlikely that their offer was worse than the one from Florida.
In the end, it was Giroux's call, and he chose the Panthers, but it's just not true to assume that there were no other offers.
