After playing 404 NHL games during his career, Ryan Dzingel played last season with the Chicago Wolves in the AHL.

Because he couldn't sign a full-time NHL contract this season, he feels comfortable sharing locker-room stories.
Recently released from his PTO with the Arizona Coyotes, Dzingel appeared on the "Coming In Hot" Podcast with former NHLers Bobby Ryan and Jason York. During a discussion about John Tortorella just days after he arrived in Columbus, he delved into an epic incident.
"So we get traded to Columbus and were in this closed door meeting, I think maybe two days in, and I kid you not for 3 hours in Vancouver's practice rink or something me and Duchy, our heads are down, and we are trying not to die laughing," revealed Dzingel. "Torts is annihilating everybody in there."

During the Meltdown, along with Sergei Bobrovsky and Artemi Panarin, Matt Duchene and himself tried to hide their laughter, according to Dzingel.
"He walks in and he grabs a thing and throws it over Bob's shoulder and he's like 'Yeah I knew you wouldn't stop that!'" revealed Dzingel. "Oh man I was just crying."

Since Panarin and Bobrovsky left the team soon after the end of that year's post-season, the meltdown seemed to have little impact on them.
"So I remember he was going after Panarin because Panarin wants to play with Duchy and didn't want to play with Atkinson... and Panarin's like 'Ah you know Atky is good but I play with Duchene' the complete opposite of what you want to say."

The deadpan response Panarin gave to Tortorella's meltdown made Dzingel laugh uncontrollably.
"I was crying laughing," admitted Dzingel. "I think Torts didn't even know what to do."

Remember how bad Dzingel had it in Columbus? Could that explain why he was benched so much during his short time there?
Sharing his experience of playing for John Tortorella, Ryan Dzingle discusses a very specific meeting that the Blue Jackets had.
