The Colorado Avalanche, Philadelphia Flyers and Washington Capitals are three teams who have battled through the worst injuries this season, losing their top starts left and right including Nicklas Backstrom, John Carlson for the Capitals, Sean Couturier, Cam Atkinson and just about the entire roster has been injured for the Flyers, and the Colorado Avalanche have gone without time with their top guns Cale Makar, Nathan MacKinnon and their captain Gabriel Landeskog, too say the least.. it's been rough for these teams that aren't living up to the expectation they preserved before the season began.

Last night, it nearly got much worse for the Avalanche team when Cale Makar would receive an illegal check to the head from former-Flyer, and now Pittsburgh Penguin Jeff Carter. The Penguins forward skated by Cale Makar and delivered a ''make it seem un-intentional'' dirty hit, as fans are calling it. Take a look for yourself below:
Cale Makar instantly dropped and held his head in pain, leaving Avalanche fans scared, and many Penguins fans sent out tweets praying that Makar was okay. Surprisingly, not even a single penalty was called on the play, which is expected as the Penguins are always handed favouritism when in Pittsburgh.
Makar was the game and thankfully ended up returning, no update or word if any damage was caused, but we should be seeing the NHL Player Safety committee take a look at this ASAP.
