The summer will be very interesting in Calgary. Their best forward, Johnny Gaudreau, could leave as a UFA if he don't sign an extension with the team. If this is the case, who could replace him?
Well, Jamey Baskow, from FlyersNittyGritty, wrote on Twitter that he wouldn't be surprised if the Flames try to acquire James Van Riemsdyk to replace Gaudreau. It seems a little bit crazy, but when you really think about it, it's not.
Van Riemsdyk has one year left on his contract. His cap hit is pretty huge, but he will give you 25 to 30 goals per season. It's a good short term fix.
It would be surprising if they actually trade for him, but it's not a bad thought from Baskow...
