The Philadelphia Flyers announced just now the signing of defenceman Nick Seeler to a two-year, one-way/two-way, contract with an average annual value (AAV) of $775 000.

Seeler, 28, had only 1 goal and 2 assists in 43 games played this season.
According to Flyers insider Charlie O'Connor, Seeler's contact is structured so that he may be an AHL player who can be easily called up or sent down.

"I think Seeler is passable as a 7th defenseman, quite good as the 8th/preferred injury call-up from the minors. His advanced metrics this year were pretty bad, but he did spend about 60% of his 5v5 minutes next to Keith Yandle (and on his off side), which was a pretty tough ask."
One fan commented that Seeler was good last year until injuries and general team's struggles forced him into a bigger role. Bringing him back at vet minimum makes a lot sense.
With the draft soon, signing Seeler, another LD, poses questions on the future of Ivan Provorov, Cam York and Sanheim.
What if the Flyers take Nemec or Jiricek instead of Savoie? We'll know soon what Fletcher is thinking here.
