Ivan Fedotov, Russia's number one goalie at the 2022 Beijing Olympics and Flyers prospect could be joining the team next season.

Standing at 6'8, Fedotov is nearly 2 meters tall and is one of the standout performers at this year's Olympic tournament. With impressive showings against Switzerland and Denmark, starting off the tournament with two shutouts, the Flyers' 2015 7th round pick is making his case to be in the NHL come training camp.
Russia just beat Sweden 2-1 in shootouts to advance to the Gold medal game. Fedotov's 34-save performance lifted his country past the Swedes who had just previously knocked out Team Canada.
Most recently with CSKA Moskow in the KHL, Fedotov's stats speak for themselves. In the last three seasons, his average save percentage was .925, going 14-10-2 this year.

According to Sam Carchidi, the flyers have already enquired about his status as an UFA at the end of the KHL season:
«The Flyers have been talking with Fedotov's agent about signing him, according to another source, «and we will continue speaking as his season comes to an end.» -Sam Carchidi.

At the time of his draft, GM Ron Hextall called him a shot in the dark. But at 6'8, a goalkeeper's potential is usually unknown until later in their development. Should he come to North-America next season, he would be following in the footsteps of Russian counterparts Igor Shesterkin and Ilya Sorokin, two very good NHLers.
If he gets ample playing time in the AHL or even takes over as Carter Hart's backup from UFA Martin Jones, the future looks bright for him. The Russians face Finland for gold on Sunday 11:10 pm ET.
