Joel Farabee has had his up and downs this season, as he was one of the players benched by John Tortorella earlier in the year.

He shared the same fate with one of his teammates who may be on the way out, whom he recently spoke highly of.
«He took me under his wing during my rookie year, he didn't have to but he really did. He's a great guy, I'm praying he stays, we'll miss him if he's gone. Who knows. «

Kevin Hayes may be on the way out if everything reported about the Columbus Blue Jackets rumors are true. However, Hayes may not be as popular in Philadelphia as he used to be, but he has built relationships on the team and Farabee was one of them, lamenting the fact if Hayes is dealt.
Young players obviously need a mentor and while John Tortorella may want to move on from Hayes, what's neglected in the conversation is the locker room presence Hayes also provided.
Farabee was among the top-15 when it came to goals for. He posted a 66.67 GF%, an impressive number in his first season. That number was actually above players like Travis Konecny and Kevin Hayes. That is partially due to the situations they were put in and who they played against. It makes more sense to look at his expected percentage which sits at 46.86.

The results speak for themselves, Farabee benefited from the leadership on and off-ice, as Hayes has increased the success of the club exponentially.
