It's pretty obvious that the Flyers organization is on the radar for the wrong reasons. They have not been much of a contender for a long time and there are lots of question marks surrounding the goaltender and defense.

The opportunity has come and gone for the team to sign a big-time player or "aggressively retool" as we have heard. Essentially putting a sour taste in the fan's mouths and making Chuck Fletcher "Philly's Most Wanted". A ton of mistakes were made this offseason, or so we thought.
What if there is some kind of master plan behind all this? Not likely but what if? Let's get into it.
As you know, the Flyers missed out big this season's high-priced players, but maybe Fletcher thought about next season. Keeping the young core and depth players together this year and attacking a heavy free agency next year. Let's dive into a few of the available free agent's next season
Must read on FlyersInsider
Patrick Kane, Chicago Blackhawks
Now let's be realistic here, Kane could very well be on the move beforehand and chances are it's not going to be with the Flyers. He is everything this team has needed since he was drafted. A hall of fame player. Could you imagine? That being said, this also would of never happened if we drafted him...
J.T. Miller, Vancouver Canucks
A month ago, it felt like if Miller was to get an extension this summer it might only come after a trade to a new team. That sense seems to have shifted a bit as he's obviously still part of the Canucks with several big dates in the NHL off-season calendar having passed already.
Miller has found a new gear in Vancouver and appears genuinely open to the idea of staying. The caveat is that the dollars and cents of it all will be hard to sort out, especially with Canucks captain Bo Horvat also eligible to become a UFA next July.
Vladimir Tarasenko, St. Louis Blues
Now this has been talked about before, the Flyer's organization having interest in "VT", but can it finally happen this time? He certainly won't have trouble finding a new home.
My NHL CPOTY award would go to Tarasanko last season. After playing just 34 games in 2019-20 and 20-21 combined and making a trade request that went unfulfilled along the way the Russian tank had a career season with 82 points in 75 outings this past season.
Just a few players that can be a huge help next season. Flyers still need to move contracts around and with JVR on his last year. Bigger moves can realistically happen.
