Flyers goaltender Carter Hart seemed to be finding his groove as the new season began, giving the team an early advantage. At one point in the past 10 games, the team held a record of 4-2-1, and he maintained a save percentage of over .920.
Unfortunately, the team stumbled in the past few games, and Hart suffered an upper-body injury that will keep him out of the lineup for a minimum of three to six weeks. [Link to Instagram post:
This is disappointing and unfortunate for the 25-year-old netminder, as he is currently playing for a contract going into the next season. It was expected that he would aim to secure as many wins as possible for the Flyers while trying to secure his next deal.

With Hart now injured, the organization has revealed his replacement, who will be Samuel Ersson. The 24-year-old, standing at 6 feet 3 inches and weighing 194 pounds, was drafted in 2018 by the Flyers in the fifth round, 143rd overall.
Ersson has much to prove as he tries to establish himself as the backup goalie or potentially the future starter if Hart cannot be re-signed. He weighed in on the injury and also explained his feelings about becoming the starter, saying,
"That's my job. That's why I'm here. I want to help this team win some hockey games."
The Flyers have also recalled Cal Petersen from the Lehigh Valley Phantoms to serve as Ersson's backup.
The Flyers will be hitting the road to face the Buffalo Sabres on Friday, November 3rd.
