Despite the summer being in full swing and the second half of the season underway, hockey enthusiasts can still enjoy some exciting action on the ice. In Europe, the World Junior Summer Showcase is currently in full gear, showcasing young talent from around the world. The United States has two teams participating, featuring future stars of the NHL.

During the USA White game against Finland, Cutter Gauthier, the Flyers' star prospect, proved his potential by netting two impressive goals. Gauthier was drafted in 2022 as the 5th overall pick in the first round. On the other hand, fellow Flyers prospect, Devin Kaplan, also showed promise with some strong plays on the ice, even though he couldn't manage to score during the game. USA White emerged victorious with a 4-2 win.
Gauthier has decided to continue his development by committing to Boston College for the upcoming season. This move will allow him to refine his skills while the Flyers focus on rebuilding their roster. Kaplan, the third-round pick (69th overall), is set to play for Boston University next year, and we may see him as a prospect in the training camp in the following years.
The World Junior Summer Showcase commenced on July 29th and will continue until August 4th.
