If there is one thing the Maple Leafs are known for, it is in the news for trade rumors. Every season around January to March The Leafs always were in the news regarding every player in the entire NHL going to that team.

There will be no shortage this year because the Maple Leafs are in a win-now mode and are looking for help up front to bring depth scoring and some size to their top six.
James van Riemsdyk has been linked to returning to the Maple Leafs at the trade deadline according to Michael Traikos from Postmedia. the theory would be that JVR would bring the offense the Maple Leafs are looking for to help them with their playoff push in April.

JVR currently holds a $7 million cap hit they would need to retain at least 50% of the salary to make it fit into the Leafs' caps system. It would also be interesting to see what the Flyers would ask for in return for this player as the Maple Leafs do have a few prospects they could use in a trade such as Matthew Knies or Topi Niemala and Nick Robertson.

Only time will tell if general manager Chuck Fletcher and Kyle Dubas can form a deal.
