As the Flyers continue to reshape and remodel their lineup during this rebuilding phase, there is one player on their forward lines who understands that he will need to do much more in the coming season to silence all the naysayers and meet the expectations of the management.
The player in question is Joel Farabee, a 23-year-old left winger standing at six feet tall and weighing 183 pounds. He was drafted in the first round, 14th overall, in the 2018 entry draft. The team had high hopes for him, expecting him to become a key player in their top six.
Under the tenure of former President and General Manager Chuck Fletcher, Farabee signed a six-year, $30 million contract with an annual cap hit of $5 million. He is now entering the second year of that deal.
However, considering his numbers from last yearplaying 82 games, scoring fifteen goals, providing 24 assists for a total of 39 points, and finishing with a -1 plus/minus ratinghe will undoubtedly need to offer more to justify such a contract.

To be fair, Farabee underwent artificial disc replacement surgery last June, and his stats for that season were modest. He is well aware that he needs to do more and is determined to meet the expectations placed upon him.
"I don't think I really put a number on exactly what I wanted to achieve," Farabee said when asked about his goals for the season. "Heading into the season with the new coaching staff and the changes that occurred here, I just wanted to demonstrate to all the new guys how I play and how I can contribute offensively."
Farabee further explained his recent feelings, stating,
"Honestly, I've been feeling really good physically. Weight-wise, I probably would have preferred to come into the season a little heavier, but I tried to manage it accordingly. Honestly, once I got cleared, there was never a point where I doubted playing or anything like that."
As a new season approaches, Farabee has the opportunity to turn the page on the previous one and hopes to provide the Flyers with the offensive output they desperately need.
