Flyers goalie situation in good shape despite Hart situation

The last few days have been shocking and, in a way, sad for the Philadelphia Flyers and their fans after star goalie Carter Hart requested and was granted a leave of absence for the Flyers as many speculate big news regarding Hart and many other NHL players is about to drop. Although the subtraction of Hart isn't ideal, the future of the goalie position in Philadelphia is in great hands.
Starting with Samuel Ersson, all season, Ersson has shown how strong he can be and how the team can rely on him during big moments. Ersson has a 12-7-3 overall record this season, including three shutouts with his latest coming against one of the NHL's best clubs in the Winnipeg Jets.
Ersson has a .905 save percentage and a 2.44 GAA. Not bad for someone who started the season with the expectations of a backup role. Ersson filled in for Hart earlier in the season in December as Hart battled an undisclosed illness.
Along with Ersson, the Flyers have many goalie prospects who not only can perform, but are extremely young.

Ersson is just 24-years-old and three other Flyers goalie prospects are 22-years-old and younger.
Alexei Kolosov, 22, was the third round pick by the Flyers in 2021 and is currently having a great year in the KHL, winning goalie of the week in October and sits with 15 wins, a .904 and three shutouts this season.
Yegor Zavragin, 18, is probably having the most impressive season from a Flyers goalie prospecg, holding a perfect 11-0 record on the season in the VHL, with a .953 save percentage and a 1.27 GAA.
Carson Bjarnason, 18, was the Flyers second round pick in 2023 and currently competing in the WHL in Canada. Bjarnason has an impressive 15-9-3 record on the season to go along with a .901 save percentage.
Although the Hart news seems devastating, the Flyers sit in a great spot if the worst case scenario comes true.
