With yet another season going down the drain as the Flyers are sitting at the bottom of the league, it is frustrating for Philly's fans to see their team struggle through bad performances, bad trades, and even worse injury list. While the management of the team has been terrible, it is not the only area in which the Flyers have a long way to go if they hope to improve their performances for the seasons to come. The finger has always been pointed at GM Chuck Fletcher's choices or at the players' poor performances, but the medical staff also had a role to play in this catastrophic season.
How many times in the past season have the Flyers' players been injured multiple times due to a lack of physical preparation or worse: when they were rushed back on the ice instead of taking a bit longer to ensure a full recovery. It's been the case this season with Brassard, Ellis, and Hayes.
Hockey is a physical sport and injuries are a part of it, but recovering procedures, surgeries and physical conditioning are key in keeping a team healthy and they have just not been done right this season.
Perhaps Jim McCrossin and Dr Dorshimer should make room, after more than 25 years at the club for each one of them, for a new and younger medical staff that practice a more «modern medicine».
